Ministries

Here at Holy Family Catholic Church, we are blessed with a vibrant community, committed to serving God and one another through active engagement in diverse ministries aimed at fostering spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. The church welcomes everyone, long-time parishioners and newcomers alike, to join and contribute to these ministries to strengthen the faith community and extend God's love to each other and to the surrounding community.

Liturgical & Worship Ministries

• ALTER SERVERS - Boys and girls, 4th grade and up. New servers observe before being placed on a schedule. Usually serve 1-2 Masses a month before.
• EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS - Distributes communion at Masses and/or to the homebound. Must be a confirmed, practicing Catholic. If married, must be in a valid, sacramental marriage. Time varies and training is mandatory.
• LECTORS - Persons with good reading skills and a strong speaking voice to read at liturgies. Scheduled approximately once a month – training is required.
• WELCOMING COMMITTEE/GREETERS - Looking for a chairperson!
  Parishioners who greet people as they enter the Church for weekend Liturgies.
• USHERS/MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY - A ministry of hospitality to the congregation and assistance with weekend liturgies. Volunteers can choose the Masses they and their families attend.
• CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD - A celebration of God’s Word for children, led by adult volunteer facilitators, using a variety of resources geared specifically toward children. Learn more and view the schedule here.
• CHOIR - Sings every other week, September through May, with one evening rehearsal during the week prior to Mass. Extra Masses and rehearsals during Lent and Advent. Learn more about our Choir here.
• DECOR/ENVIRONMENT - The committee decorates the church for Christmas, Easter, and special occasions. To assist in beautifying the church, contact Beckey LeBlanc (225) 383 - 1838.
• SEWING MINISTRY - Planning and decorating church banners. Contact Ruth Stanley (225) 933-4405 to volunteer.
• EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY TO THE HOMEBOUND - dedicated to serving those who are unable to attend church services due to being homebound, residing in nursing homes/assisted living facilities, or being hospitalized.
• NURSING HOME MINISTRY - Volunteers assist with Mass setup and celebration of the liturgy for the residents of Port Allen Care Center.
• ADORATION CHAPEL - Sign up for one hour per week to spend time in prayer with the Lord. Tues-Wed 5:30 pm- 8:30 pm/Thurs-Fri 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Substitute volunteers are also needed.

Community & Fellowship

• PRAYER LINE & INTERCESSORS - A ministry that offers prayers and sacrifices for the intentions of the parish and individuals. Contact Lynn Carr to join (225) 383-9747.
• COFFEE & PRAYER FELLOWSHIP - 
• SENIOR CITIZENS SUPPER - Volunteers help to plan and prepare supper events for the seniors who attend. Held once per month. To get involved, contact Kim Coye (225) 933-1395.
• HOSPITALITY / ST. MARTHA'S GROUP - Volunteers prepare and deliver a dish of food on the day of a funeral and pray for the family of the deceased. Varies as it is dependent upon the number of funerals during that particular month. As of this time, Bereavement Teams are on a rotating schedule each responsible for 2 months out of the year. Christian Formation

• PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (PSR) - Jennifer LeJeune 336-4463 Catechists work as part of a team to provide religious instruction for K-8th grade students through the Sadlier series. Meet two Sundays per month from 9:00-10:15 am (Sept – April). *Child Protection Certification Required. To volunteer, contact Jennifer LeJeune (225) 336-4463.
• RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS AND CHILDREN (RCIA/RCIC) - Volunteers work as a facilitator/catechists to
  small groups of adults or children using RCIA lesson materials provided, in addition to presenting scripture sessions. This ministry includes accompanying the adults and children through the process from September through Pentecost, approximately two hours per week. To volunteer, contact Jennifer LeJeune (225) 336-4463.
• CONFIRMATION - Jennifer LeJeune 336-4463 Catechists work as part of a team to provide sacramental preparation for 9th-11th grade students. Two Mondays per month from 6:00 -7:30 pm (Sept– April). *Child Protection Certification Required. To volunteer, contact Jennifer LeJeune (225) 336-4463.
• VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - Jennifer LeJeune 336-4463 Volunteers teach and assist with crafts, storytime, games, and refreshments. 1 week in July. *Child Protection Certification Required. To volunteer, please fill out the form on our Vacation Bible School page.
• MARRIAGE PREPARATION/CANA CARE - Married couples who prepare engaged couples seeking the sacrament of matrimony.

Administration

• PARISH ADVISORY COUNCIL - Parish Advisory Council to the Pastor is made up of elected and/or appointed Parishioners. The Council meets 4-5 times per year.
• MONEY COUNTERS/ST. MATTHEW’S GROUP - Volunteers count the collection from weekend liturgies. Scheduled one Monday every other month. 

Organizations / Other

• KNIGHT OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 2875 - The Knights of Columbus sponsor several projects during the year. Membership is open
  to any practicing Catholic man in union with the Holy Spirit who is 18 years or older. Meetings are held monthly.
• JUNIOR AND SENIOR YOUTH GROUP - Volunteers assist with youth group meetings and activities. Flexible. *Child Protection Certification Required. To volunteer, contact Jennifer LeJeune (225) 336-4463.
• ST. VINCENT DE PAUL  - Concerned with the needs of the community in providing emergency food and clothing for the poor. Contact Deacon Minos Ponville (225) 383 - 1838 for more information.
• SCOUTS - Boys scouting troops are very active as they develop Christian ideals and values. Contact Jerry Zimmerman (225) 247-1794. Girls scouting troops are looking for a chair. 
• HOLY FAMILY SCHOOL - Volunteer opportunities available. Contact the

Maintenance

• BAPTISMAL FONT - Maintain baptismal font in the church. Linda Simoneaux (225) 571-7096.
• FLOWER BEDS - Volunteers Needed to maintain front flower beds. Contact Parish Office (225) 383-1838.
• HAVE A TALENT/SHARE A TALENT - Share your skills of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, cleaning, and various other jobs in and around parish buildings.
