For several years now our Diocesan St. Vincent de Paul agency has distributed Christmas toys to 3000 children of Baton Rouge and the surrounding area. The toys are all donated, but volunteer help is needed in two phases at the Holmes Building which is a large storage facility located 8.2 miles from Holy Family Church. (After crossing the new bridge, take the Florida Street exit. Continue on Florida Street until taking a left turn onto North Foster and then a right turn on Greenwell Spring’s Rd. Go .8 of a mile and the Holmes Building is located at 6190 Greenwell Springs Rd.)
Volunteer work times begin on Tuesday December 3 and continue until December 21 when the toys are distributed. Weekdays will normally feature work shifts from 9:30AM to 12Noon and 12:30PM to 3:30PM. Saturday and Sundays will normally feature a 4PM to o6PM work shift. During this time period gifts will be sorted and wrapped while food donations will be grouped and packed.
Then on weekdays from December 30 to January 10 the twice a-day shifts will resume in order to continue wrapping and sorting for next year.
For question, please call the St. Vincent de Paul Volunteer Coordinator, Desha Martin at 225-383-7837 ext. 207.

Marianites of Holy Cross May 1, 2024, marks the 175th anniversary of when the Marianites arrived in Louisiana. This order holds a very special place in our heart as they are the ones who established our school in 1949. In anticipation of this joyous event, they will be updating us monthly with information about their group. See below a letter from the Marianites.
